Contest Day #4

Happy Halloween!

Hallow

(Photo taken at Rogers Gardens in Newport Beach.)

It's been a great birthday week!  Thank you everyone for participating in my 24th Internet birthday party.

I have to tell you, two of my favorite things are reading and writing.  I consume books, magazines, and blogs at an amazing rate.  Lately I've been thinking I could use some new reading material.  I've been searching the Internet and the bookstores for some good reads.

The one place I still need to look is Amazon.  Amazon is probably my favorite online site.  I can spend hours perusing all the books, music, dvds, gifts, and everything imaginable they have to offer.  I think it's only fitting that I indulge myself a little this week since it's my birthday week.  I'd like you to join me!

Today's Contest:

I am giving away TWO Amazon gift cards valued at $50 each!

You may continue to enter all contests through this weekend.

You may enter as many times as you'd like – one entry per comment.

Winners
of all contests will be announced on Monday, November 3rd.  The contests
will close at 5 p.m. Pacific time on my real birthday, Sunday, November
2nd.

Winners will be picked randomly utilizing the Random Integer Generator.

Just
leave a comment telling me the name of a favorite book, or blog, to help me expand my reading horizons!

You may also still enter here to win an iTunes gift card valued at $25!

You may also still enter here to win a Starbucks gift card valued at $30!

You may also still enter here to win a Target gift card vaued at $40!

Happy 24th birthday to me!

A Confederacy of Dunces is a good satire. If you’ve ever even visited N’awlins, it’s a read you would understand.

I like Julio Cortázar’s short stories; I think you could find his stuff translated as well.
That was all one message, until I realized I could make them separate entries! lol Happy Halloween, and be well 24!

My favorite author is Nicholas Sparks and I love all his books although I haven’t gotten his most recent book yet but heard it is very good. Two of my favorite books of his is The Notebook and Nights in Rodanthe, which has recently come out as a movie but haven’t seen that. I always like the books better then the movies based on them.

If you’re looking for high quality “trash” (i.e., romance novels), it’s Nora Roberts all the way. As I said, her book Honest Illusions was my first favorite book ever, and still one of the top five.

As for blogs, I’m partial to mine but I may be biased.

Not a book but a way of reading: I just ordered a Kindle and I thought of you as it looks like it will be so easy to hold and with your injured arm it might be easier for you than an actual book, esp. one of the bigger ones. Check it out.

My very favorite book of all time is Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry. I originally read it only because I was extremely bored and my Dad had left the book at my house. Since then, I read several other McMurtry books that are also favorites, The Last Picture Show and Texasville.

Before I give you my books….I do want to mention that if you really like to read, you should really consider an Amazon Kindle. I’ve had mine for about 6 months and I LOVE it. (This is before Oprah was out pushing them….however it did make me buy one for my mom with the discount that only works till tomorrow…just saying.)
My current favorite book is A Prayer for Owen Meany

Okay my favorite author is James Patterson. I think my favorite book of his is “Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas.” My favorite series of books of his are the Alex Cross series.

I so wanna win too! I love Amazon. I buy tons of books there. In fact, before I go to Barnes & Noble, I go to Amazon and write down the prices of the books I want, then I go to B&N and compare prices. B&N can never keep up with the cost of Amazon’s stuff so I just come home and buy the stuff on Amazon and the books are always new and in great condition. I just like to spend time at B&N though. 🙂 Another good read: Christ The Lord by Anne Rice… SO good.

If you have not read the book, “The First Wives Club” it is SO much better than the movie. The movie was not true to the book at all. The revenge in the book was SO much more clever than the schmaltzy one in the movie.

I can’t remember…I think I have…TOO MANY CONTESTS and I’m overwrought with emotion (from concerts and plays and papers and the time space continuum/time warp I got stuck in today because of driving through time zones and also day late savings, if you must know)anyway…hope your birthday was great, regardless of whether I won every single contest. 🙂
