Escaping the Heat on Labor Day

This three-day, holiday, weekend is viewed by most people as the "end" of summer.  The hot weather, and swimming, often continues for another few months in Orange County.  School begins on Thursday though so we're celebrating the end of summer along with everyone else.

I hope he doesn't have another case of swimmer's ear coming on.

He can smile even with a ball in his mouth.  This is one happy dog.

I think he's convinced this is "his" pool.  If he sees anything floating in it he feels compelled to remove it immediately.

It doesn't even matter if the object is big and hard for him to carry.

It must come out of his pool!

Sometimes he needs to stop and catch his breath.  It's hard work keeping floating objects out of a pool.

In a matter of minutes he starts begging us to throw anything, anything at all, back into the pool so he can retrieve it.

After all, it's hot and he wants an excuse to cool off.

I can't really say I blame him.

He’s so pretty. Love the shot of him in the air.
My dog follows us all along the edges of our pool when we swim. But she does love to swim in the ocean.

The difference between your dog and mine…mine is just about to turn one year old and would’ve had a great time chewing the hell out of the kick board!

I’d be in there right along side him if we had extreme heat conditions. Dogs and water… what a great mix.

Awesome photos! My golden is looking at me right now. He’s lying down but his red ball is in his month. When I move to get up, he will run to the door hoping we are going to play fetch. Now I feel like I need to take him to the lake!

My lab cannot swim – he sinks like a rock unless he’s carrying something in his mouth – so we just don’t let him in the pool unless we’re there with him.
Have you ever heard of a LAB who cannot swim? lmao

Oh, Hanna would love to watch your dog in action. She doesn’t really swim, but thinks she does. Her experience has been limited to flushing ducks out of ponds, which involves running around the shallow perimeter & barking. Nothing makes her happier than when all the ducks are gone. 🙂
Watching your dog would be like watching the Dog Olympics for her.
