I'm having so much fun in Santa Barbara! I don't want to go home, but I will be driving back to Orange County this evening.
I spent yesterday shopping, seeing some good friends and hanging out at the beach. The shopping was mainly done at Paseo Nuevo which is a beautiful outdoor mall downtown.
I had to make a point of driving by the famous, and very beautiful, courthouse while I was in town too. Years ago I spent a lot of time at the courthouse. No, not because I was in trouble a lot. I used to have a job that meant spending time there. Isn't this the most beautiful courthouse you've ever seen?
It's beautiful inside too.
My beach time was mainly spent at East Beach. It's a tourist beach. I usually try to avoid the tourist beaches, but it was fairly empty and convenient to my hotel. There were a lot of pelicans flying by. I love watching the pelicans. I really enjoyed my beach time.
At the end of the day I drank wine on the ocean view balcony of my hotel while nibbling on crackers and cheese. Here's a picture I took of the view from my balcony:
If you follow me on Twitter you already know I've been serenaded by a seal nonstop while I've been here. He says ARF, ARF, ARF very loudly every evening for several hours before he goes to sleep. I think he sneaks onto one of the unoccupied boats docked out in the ocean every night. I have yet to catch a peak of him, but I hear him loud and clear for hours on end.
Yesterday ended at a Mexican restaurant in Montecito. Montecito is the most exclusive neighborhood in Santa Barbara. It's where Oprah and many other celebrities have homes. I was surprised I didn't get kicked out the minute I showed up there. Instead, some very nice "locals" spent quite a bit of time chatting with me as if I were their best friend.
The rich here are so much nicer than the rich in Orange County. It's really refreshing.
