Books I’ve Enjoyed Lately

** Yes, publishers send me free books to read with the hope I'll review and publicize them.  No, this is not a sponsored post. I didn't get a free copy of any of the books listed.  Every book named in this post was my personal selection.  **

My writing time yesterday was spent at the Plastic Surgery Party.  I'll have all the details for you next week.  Since I didn't have a lot of time to write, I'm focusing on great reads today.  It's a simple topic and dear to my heart.

I love to read.

Here's a list of a few fiction books I've read recently and really enjoyed:

The 19th Wife by David Ebershoff

The Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zafon

Loving Frank: A Novel by Nancy Horan

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

During the summer I also read:

Driving Sideways by Jess Riley

The Story of Edgar Sawtelle by David Wroblewski

The Thirteenth Tale by Diane Setterfield

The Wednesday Sisters by Meg Waite Clayton

The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson

The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

All my travel these last few months was great for catching up on my reading.  I inhaled books while waiting around in airports and flying.  The top four books listed were my favorites, but perhaps that's because they are the one's I've read most recently.

How about you?

Have you read any good books lately?  If so, I'd love to hear about it!

I read The Time Traveler’s Wife and The Thirteenth Tale this past summer and thought they were awesome! Right now, I am reading The Prodigal Summer by Barbara Kingsolver. Like everything I’ve read from Kingsolver, it is delightful and thought provoking.
I love your book posts. Now I’m heading off to Amazon.

    Do blogs count?
Books, I don’t have so much time for. Right now I’m slowly but surely working my way through Dan Brown’s new book. I’ll read Stephen King’s new book when it comes out. If I get time to read beyond that, I’ll check out some of your recommendations.

    I also love Barbara Kingsolver.
Lolly Winston has 2 books out and she’s a wonderful writer (GOOD GRIEF is one and I can’t recall the other title…)!
Also just read SHE IS ME by Cathleen Schine, a very funny and smart writer, and loved it.
    Thanks for the recs.

–>I am on my 12th or 13th in a row book by Janet Evanovich and her Stephanie Plum series. There are some parts that literally make me laugh out loud. Of course, my Mom just passes me books by the bag-full so I rarely stray off course from what is given to me.

I’m behind in reading. I tend to do TV at night lately. I need to get back into books.

Thank you! I added almost all of those to my paperbackswap.com wish list, save for Time Traveler’s Wife, which I have read, and The Wednesday Sisters, which was already on my wish list.
The Help looks like a good Southern read.

“The 19th Wife” is on my nightstand. Haven’t read it yet, but it’s next on my list. I’m envious of all the books you’ve been able to read!

OOOH! I love book recommendations. I miss my book group dearly. THEY read Edgar Sawtelle this summer, too, but I haven’t caught up to them. I recently read The Corrections by Jonathon Franzen and was blown away, on many levels. If you didn’t read Peace Like A River by Leif Enger lately, I could read that every day for the rest of my life. And if you do or are already signed up with Goodreads, I, too, will gladly be your friend!
