Bikini Waxes, Pedicures and New Sandals

This *might* be a girlie post today.

(Waving good-bye to all my male readers!)

Since I returned from my trip, I've been busy getting my life back in order.

It has involved very mundane activities such as blah, blah, blah UNPACKING, and blah, blah, blah, LAUNDRY and blah, blah, blah GROCERY SHOPPING, etc.

I also realized I, myself, was sorely in need of a little maintenance.

I hesitate to even mention this fact because it's quite possible you:

1)  Currently think I'm flawless and require no maintenance.

2)  Will forever brand me as an "OC Woman" if I tell you I do indeed partake of much needed maintenance from time to time.

It occurred to me yesterday, as I ran from appointment to appointment, perhaps I'm a little more Orange County than I'd like to admit.  I suppose this place is a bit insidious and invades the personalities even of those of us who try to fight it off.

As an example, I had a woman yank out my pubic hairs again yesterday.  With each and every rrrriiiiiiiiippppppp I gasped in pain.

And yet?

It's bathing suit season in Orange County.

It was 80F/26.7C at my house yesterday afternoon.

Rip away!

I wonder if Brazilian Bikini Waxes are the "must have" of cooter grooming outside of Southern California?  My guess is they aren't.

As a side note, my waxing salon has now come out with "Baldy Bucks."

Oh yes, they have!

Each Brazilian Wax earns their patrons one "Baldy Buck."  After nine Brazilian waxes a customer has earned enough Baldy Bucks to get one FREE Brazilian Bikini Wax.  I'm sure you'll be interested to hear I only have one more paid Brazilian until I, too, am the recipient of a FREE Baldy Buck Brazilian Bikini Wax.

Only in Orange County?

After my coochie grooming, I was off to do something about the talons growing out of my feet.  I had intended to get a pedicure before going to Santa Barbara, but then realized the sand would ruin new polish.  Because I postponed this particular maintenance, my toenails had grown to epic lengths by the time I went in yesterday.

They're looking slightly better now.

Toes

I had them painted purple to match my hair.

(Well, to match the purple streak in my hair.)

A girl's got to coordinate her look, right?

Actually, the pedicure was also a priority because I want to wear the new shoes I bought in Santa Barbara.

Shoes1

Aren't they cute?

They wouldn't look good with talons poking out of them – hence, the need for a pedicure.

I live in sandals of one sort or another year round.  These are made by Cole Haan and they were on sale (!) for $80 off their normal price.  I love that they have a not-too-high heel.

Shoe4

They're perfect to slide into and wear with jeans when I need something a little nicer than my usual flip flops.

How about you?

Have you earned your Baldy Bucks yet?

Do you have a favorite nail polish color for spring and/or summer?

Have you found a perfect pair of sandals for summer yet?

Um…. answers are no, no, and um……. no. Check back when I am dead and you may find me in a bathing suit, but until then…… no.

No Brazilian wax here (yet) but I am in DIRE need of a pedicure. DIRE. NEED. And I need to get my hair trimmed (I finally found a haircut I can live with and I’m going to keep it, gosh darn it).
I see sneaking out of the office for an hour or two this afternoon in my future…
And yes – CUTE sandals. Uber cute.

Nice shoes! I never painted toenails till I turned 40 and now I can’t see how I did without. But I do my own. I love the idea of the free wax. Only in the OC…

  7. unmitigated me (m.a.w.)

When I started teaching, I started getting professional pedicures, just so I could wear sandals to work. No polish, no sandals! Who wants to look at toenails? And I am in flip flops myself, from April until as late in October as I can manage without frostbite. I hate to wear socks!

I have found the perfect sandals (for six dollars! brand new! at a consignment sale!) but summer? has yet to arrive. I had to get my heavy down winter coat out of the guest room closet the other night and I had to turn the heat on yesterday. Stupid Wisconsin spring.
If my husband dies an early death, I am throwing away all his crap in the basement without even opening it (don’t worry – it’s phone bills from 1997 when he lived in San Jose with his ex-wife the money-sucking whiner whom he never should have married in the first place but he was a 24 year old brilliant engineering nerd getting laid for the first time in his life on a regular basis so can you blame him? but yes, his friends warned him and he did not listen), getting rid of the cats, and moving back to Texas, where I can wear sandals nine months of the year.
I have to admit, though, there are some advantages to being in cold weather for most of the year: it’s easier to hide fat.

    Oh. My.
We don’t have baldy bucks here for sure. : )
My favorite nail polish in the summer is lavender. Gary hates it. I just think it is so soft and refreshing 🙂

I started shaving that area (completely) when I lived down South. It was so much cooler and nice for the heat and then I’ve just kept it up. I can’t imagine going back. I also can’t imagine getting that area waxed. I don’t even like to get naked when I get a massage!
My favorite spring/summer polish is Bristol Beauty by Priti polish. It’s a great color with my pasty white skin.
I bought some Bandolino heels last summer that I still love. Just the right height to still be comfortable and I got brown and black!
