A Wasted Week?

The week between Christmas and New Years always seems like a wasted week.

A lot of people are on vacation.  Those who are working, seem to get by with the least effort possible.

In some ways it’s nice – the pace is slow.

In other ways,

I feel anxious to just get on with the new year and new beginnings.

I get restless.

(Maybe next year I should plan a trip for myself the last week of the year?)

Mocha, basking in the afternoon sun.

The last few days, I’ve tried to ease my arm back into a photography routine with just a few shots each day.

Hummingbird, hiding in our crepe myrtle.

Did any of you get any new toys for the holidays?

I had ordered some Lee filters for myself months and months ago.  They were back-ordered, but arrived in time to be a Christmas present from myself to myself.

I haven’t played with them yet, but I’m sure they’ll get a lot of use soon.  (I’m giving my arm a couple more days before I go all-out with my camera.)

Railroad tracks in San Clemente.  Sun glare and lens flare …

I already have various lens filters, but I think the new ones will help a lot with beach photography.

Do you have a new toy?

Photography related or not  ….

I’d love to hear what you’ve been playing with lately!

No new toys here (not yet anyways, have to see what it will cost to fix hubby’s car). But this week – I work in a holiday town, and we have just begun the busiest 6 weeks of the year down here in Ocean Grove (Aust). So glad I just had the last 10 days off.

I got the new XBox Call of Duty game!

    You took some great shots!

And I totally agree about this last week. Ive just been barely doing what I’ve had to at work. 🙂

My new toy is arriving today by Fedex. A Macbook Pro… can’t wait, and even though I’m feeling under the weather today I plan to unpack and play with it a bit.

The week between Christmas and New Year’s is the only guaranteed vacation Beloved and I get (although I did go into the office for a couple of hours yesterday morning; the problem with running a business is you never really get to take any time off). The rest of the time, though, I’m planning recipes and working on The Cookbook.

As for new toys, I got two – a new spice grinder and a professional quality meat grinder (I’ve become very interested in making my own charcuterie). It may sound boring, but I’m excited about it!

–>Santa broght me a Canon Rebel T3i with a bunch of lenses and filters. I’m trying to figure it all out.
I love pictures of Mocha. It makes me miss our chocolate lab Sydney.

Love the pictures of your dogs…you can see they are so sweet and happy babies!
I got my daughter a 1916 Kodak Brownie camera…she was thrilled. She’s wanting to get more into photography and looooves old things. I got a new purse…. http://www.luxdeville.com/product-p/gak212rs.htm …and couldn’t be happier!

I got an off brand one cup coffee maker, the one that uses those little K cups? I often have one cup of coffee in the afternoon and when I got to try one of those last summer, it went on my wish list! Using a regular coffee maker to make one cup always seemed like a big hassle and this was fun! However, it is expensive so I never dreamed I would get one unless I caved and bought it myself. And I get to have a variety of coffee too. Nice surprise!

oooh! Fun! I wouldn’t mind having one of those coffee makers too! I don’t have a very big kitchen though – I’m not sure where I’d put it. They look so fun!
      Congratulations!
