Spring Has Sprung!

* Several of today’s photos have already been uploaded to my photo site.  Lately, lots of people seem to want to buy flower photos (in FLOWERS gallery) and/or hummingbird photos (in NATURE gallery).  To look at my entire gallery with all SORTS of photos begin here.  If you want a photo I haven’t uploaded for sale, please let me know and I will do my best to accomodate you.  *

Like many places, we had no winter here this year.

I think it only rained twice, and not very much even then.

(Weather forecasters are predicting a “big storm” for this coming weekend – we’ll see!)

My backyard has flowers blooming everywhere I look.

There are bird nests all over too.  (Sorry, I haven’t photographed those yet!)

We have hummingbirds in Orange County year round.  Right now we have all sorts of bonus hummingbirds, too.

Some of the hummingbird species from the Northwest are migrating back up from Mexico for the spring.

They’ve stopped by my house for Spring Break, apparently.

Yes, the hummingbird’s neck really is THAT pink.  I also have hummingbirds flying around my yard with very orange necks.

And bright red necks.

(I bet you didn’t know redneck hummingbirds existed?  Ha ha … Aren’t I funny?)

In fact, I’ve taken more photos of various flowers and hummingbirds than I’ve had time to edit.

I’ll try to show you some redneck hummingirds soon!

(They fly around while drinking Pabst beer!)

My dogs find the dozens of hummingbirds in our yard to be annoying.

That damn buzzing noise they make as they dart around …?

It can ruin the best of naps.

The picture of the hummingbird in flight is amazing!! Once again, love your pictures!!

Our tulips are coming up already – they’re at least a month early! The crocus are in full bloom and our pussywillow is about to explode. I haven’t gotten outside to do any photography in awhile – you’ve inspired me!

Our calla lilies are blooming like crazy, but our irises haven’t come up yet (they’re a different variety than yours, though). The agapanthus and day lilies are also gearing up and should be sending up stalks soon. Definitely lots of hummingbirds around. Your pics are amazing – those suckers are fast, so it must be tricky to get the shot.

      Thank you Judi.
Yes, they are fast …! Fortunately, I’ve got so many living in my backyard – I’m able to capture them with my lens once in awhile!

The photo of the Hyatt Embarcadero looks like an Eschler painting. I can’t believe it’s a photograph. Beautiful!
