Descanso Gardens In Spring

Not long ago, I got an email from one of my (very nice!) readers.

The subject line read, “COME BACK!!!”

Part of the email said this:

“I know you just had a crazy busy week with San Diego, then Knotts but I have to tell you that Descanso is in bloom and screaming your name!!!  You’re going to have to come back to LA! “

So …

Last Thursday I hopped in the car and drove to L.A.

I’m easy like that!

(Well, okay, let’s be honest.  I shouldn’t have gone.  I had BAZILLIONS of things to do, but I went anyway.)

The drive itself was NOT easy.  For some unknown reason, traffic was WAY worse than usual,  It took me close to three hours to arrive at my destination.

(A “normal” drive there would be about an hour and a half during non-rush hours.)

It was a long, long, loooooong, frustrating, drive.

I was rewarded with a lot of beauty when I arrived.

It seemed like everything, everywhere I looked, was blooming.

There were a lot of people visiting.  I’ve never seen so many people at the gardens before.

I think it was Spring Break for L.A. schools … lots of kids/families!

Photo:  Pretty, pretty, flowers everywhere!

Of course,

Because I’ve been cramming so many activities into my life lately, I’ve barely had time to look at most of my Descanso photos.

I imagine you’re tired of seeing flower photos anyway, right?

If I don’t edit the photos until next winter, you’ll probably be grateful for a break from all the damn pretty flower photos I’ve been posting lately.

(Is it my fault spring has gone NUTS with the flower-blooming this year??)

I did take a photo of this garden bench because it was screaming at me to pull out my wide angle lens.

In a few months, during summer, the trellis will be covered with vines, making a shaded “cave” for the bench.

On the drive home,

During rush hour –

I dropped a peanut shell down my shirt.

It got stuck in my bra and it was pokey.

I had trouble getting it out.

I flashed my boob at a truck driver as I tried to resolve this problem.

Photo:  The man in the passenger seat of the truck on the left got to see my breast – nipple and all!  He smiled.

It just goes to show, I can’t even go to a nice, serene, garden for a few hours without some type of mishap.

Mishaps follow me everywhere I go.

Also?

Peanut shells can be very pokey.

Descanso was so beautiful.

It was worth the five (round trip) hours in the car just to see it.

It was even worth being poked in the boob by a peanut shell.

If you’re in the Los Angeles area during spring, it’s definitely worth a visit.

P.S.  Thank you Shawna!

Again, flashing my boob at someone would only produce a horrified reaction – you should be proud of yours. 😉

And I will NEVER get tired of your flower photos.

LOL! Many more trips like this and you’ll be known as Flasher to the truck drivers. Pokey peanut. LOL

You have been busy, but who can pass up an opportunity to see the blooming gardens. Being I’m Still not seeing wild bloom around here I’ll settle with your exquisite photos.

    A wide angle lens, hmmmm……

We are still laughing about the post where you flashed the grandpa neighbor. Everytime we see our old asian grandparents walking back and forth it reminds us of yr story.

Who could get tired of flower photos? But I love the first dreamy one of the trees.

You probably made that truck passenger’s day.

Yeah! You came! See it WAS screaming your name! Or the truck driver was! I love the dreamy first shot! Almost expect a little fairy to flit on by! And as crazy beautiful as all the blooms were, I got a little lost dreaming in the Oak Groves… More flower pics please! LOL!
