I’m hoping you can help me make a decision.
An Orange County business is going to be displaying one of my prints for a few weeks.
I can’t really discuss the details (at least not yet), but the photo will be getting some attention.
It needs to be a photo taken in Orange County.
A “pretty beach” photo has been requested.
Taking into account the interior surroundings where the photo will be placed,
I’ve narrowed the final selection to two photos.
I’m curious to see which of the two you like best.
(The final selection will be matted and framed.)
The first photo in contention is one I shared with you just this week,
Sunset in Newport Beach:
The second photo is one I haven’t yet shared here on Twenty Four At Heart.
It is, I think, a beautiful shot …
But in a different way.
For now, let’s just call it Golden Sunset:
The photos actually have more specific titles, but I’m not printing the titles here today.
(I don’t want the titles to influence your choice.)
What do you think?
If you walked into a public area and/or business -
Which photo would you be more likely to notice hanging on the wall?
P.S. Thank you so much for helping me make this decision!!

I pick #2. I really, really like the first one, but the people in it just won’t let me imagine myself there so I think #2 is the best. But both are good. Of coures, you could photoshop the people out of the first one…..just a suggestion HAHA
I thought about it, but I left the people in that photo to give a sense of scale to the vastness of the beach. I also kind of like their silhouettes adding something “different” to that shot.
I love them both but I would choose #2.
Thank you!
Oh, jeez – you just couldn’t have made this any easier, could you?
I love both the photos, for different reasons. But I think I choose the second one; the gold tone to it is just stunning, and very different for a beach/sunset photo.
Thanks Jan!
I like the second one. It is a more unique beach shot.
Thank you Robyn!
You can’t go wrong with either one, but I prefer the first one.
Thanks Robert!
They are both beautiful, but I really love the 2nd one – Golden Sunset… I want to be there!
Thank you Lee Anna!
The second one because it’s local and shines of gold.
Thanks Gaelyn!
For me the blue hues in the top photo make it stand out more than the lower photo
Thank you Sandra! : )
I like the first one.
Thank you Bridget … it’s a close race! : )
#2 does it for me! I love that pile of Kelp(?)! I havent lived on the California coast since I was 6. And we don’t get a lot of that stuff up here in the mountains of Northern Utah! So I guess what I’m saying is that I’m not real familiar with the stuff. But I do like it. Especially in that picture! And, as a side note, the golden color is sooo beautiful!
Seaweed, kelp …! : )
Thank you!
Decision making is by far my worst ability! I went back and forth but settled on #2.
Thanks Nancy!
I would pick #2…there’s just something about the color variation that is breathtaking. And I love the pile of seaweed sitting all alone and undisturbed on the beach!
Thank you Kirsty!
Personally, I think the first one’s colors are more uplifting.
Thank you Stacy!
I love the first one. I’m quite partial to blues and this photo draws me in. The people make me imagine myself walking along the beach. I like the second one but I would probably walk by it being so monochromatic. Yet, I love b/w photography. Go figure lol. Basically, I’m a fan of all your stuff! You know the recent photo where you are at the beach and all you see is your feet and the water? I pick that one!
LOL!
Well, thank you! : )
For sure the second. I want to be on that beach.
Thanks – I appreciate the feedback!
I love both, but I would buy number 2. Wow that is one amazing photograph.
Thank you! : )
I prefer the second one, Golden Sunset. This is really going to be a close race!
But actually my favourite beach photo ever is “Beach Fort”. Do you remember that one?
I do remember it! I’m so flattered you do too.
Seriously, you just made my day! : )
If it’das for an art gallery, I would go with number two. For a non arts-related business, I would go with number one.
Ha! Leave it to YOU to confuse me further! ha ha! : )
There are many many things about both that are wonderful. I love the colors in #1 and it feels uplifting and draws you in. I like the golden colors of #2, but the picture seems cold and not as inviting.
My final pick (Since I have to make only one, lol:) is Sunset in Newport Beach Picture #1
Thank you Christy!
Both are gorgeous but Golden Sunset to me now, has more depth.
Abby, thank you!
They are both *spectacular* and I would buy either (actually, I’m probably slightly more likely to buy #1). But I think #2 is best for displaying somewhere that it will be competing among other attractions for people’s attention. In #2, the placement and intensity of the gold really makes it leap into your consciousness, and then all the other elements hold your attention after that.
Thank you Elissa!
I like both, and either one would get my attention on walking into an area where it was displayed, BUT the first one has a slight edge over the second in my opinion. It’s the combination of colours for me.
Cathy, thanks!
I love the 2nd one its all glowly and golden. The first one reminds me of a pic you see hanging at home but the 2nd definitely for a business
Thank you Tonya!
I really love the second one because the colors aren’t what you’d expect of a beach sunset photo. With that being said I think that if the photo is going to be somewhere it is viewed by other photographers or artistically inclined photos the second photo is a great choice, but if its somewhere the general public will see it they may appreciate the first photo a little more.
Thank you – I appreciate getting so much feedback!
I like the first one. I like the people in it and I like the varied colors. I think they are both lovely, but number 1 has more interest and originality.
Thank you Anne!
GOLDEN SUNSET!! It sapped my brain I thought looking at it!!!
Ha ha! A sapped brain?
: )
I like them both, but there is something intriguing about Golden Sunset.
Thank you Missy!
I prefer the first one – but cannot tell you why!
There doesn’t have to be a reason. : )
Thank you!
I vote for number 2 too. That golden colour makes it more unique
Thank you Tiziana!
I liked the first one; I think because it isn’t so monochromatic, it has little touches of blue in it, which is my favorite color. But both are gorgeous.
NIcely done.
Thank you Karen!
