Best Sunset of The Year?

It’s hot here, and still (most definitely) summer despite what the calendar says.

At the end the day yesterday, I decided to spend “just an hour” at the beach with my camera.

In fact, I wasn’t sure I’d even get to the beach in time for sunset and I didn’t really care.

I was pretty certain it was going to be a mediocre sunset.  (I just planned to shoot a couple, long exposure, black and white shots.)

I was wrong about the “mediocre” sunset.

Really, really, wrong.

My brain is still trying to process how incredibly AMAZING the sunset was.

It might have been the “best” sunset I’ve ever seen.

I think it was definitely tops for the year.

I didn’t take a single black and white photo, and I ended up staying at the beach until it was dark.

I took this in Newport Beach, on “Big Corona.”

      It was SO pretty.

PS I wonder if he’d know who I am if he ran into me at a store?

BTW, I saw the Torturer at Stater Bros the other day. I looked at him and he looked at me with his head tilted sideways and I said, “PT. It was my shoulder.” He nodded and that was that.

      Yep.
When I arrived at the beach it was so cloudy, it was gray and boring.
But then, as the sun dropped ….

    This is really beautiful.

I miss the sunsets on Big Corona.

Living inland in Northern California I don’t see many colorful sunsets, or sunrises. Maybe when I move towards the coast in a year and a half I can remedy that.

Thank you for posting such beautiful photos.

You are in inspiration, and I look forward to seeing your posts in my feed.

      Thank you!
I lived inland in Northern Cal for a couple years after college.
I was very happy to get closer to the coast again after a few years away!
