More From Balboa Island, Newport Beach

New PT is located in Newport Beach.

He and I have been spending a lot of time together lately.

(It looks like we’ll be spending a lot more time together in the future, also.  We discuss things like my wild-crazy dream of someday being able to pour a cup of coffee.  We also quickly realized we both have filter-less mouths and inappropriate senses of humor.  This is a good thing, because laughter can make PT so much more bearable.  For instance, I might have snorted out loud and then giggled uncontrollably when he asked me if I could get on all fours for him.)

After PT yesterday, I drove a couple blocks to Balboa Island.

The island is nice and flat, making it a great place to take a walk.

It was a beautiful, warm, sunshine-y morning.

I took the above photo from a Balboa Island dock, looking back at a few of the homes on the island.

It really could not have been a prettier morning – perfect for a long walk.

I think beach walks after PT might become a regular thing.

It’s amazing how many people approach me when I’m out shooting.

It seems like everyone wants to ask me questions about my camera, or what I’m shooting, or just talk.

It’s usually really nice meeting people, but once in awhile my Personal-Perv-Magnet comes into play.

I had one not-so-comfortable encounter yesterday.

Never fear – there’s a strong sense of being safe in Newport Beach.

Orange County Sheriff’s Boat

I meandered over and chatted with Mr. Policeman for awhile.

I didn’t mention my encounter-of-the-strange-kind …

We just chatted about the pretty day and other such niceties.

He let me take a few photos of him.

(Sorry, I haven’t had time to edit them yet.)

Why do I always feel guilty when I’m around on-duty cops?

I instantly want to blurt out things like, “I’ve only gotten one speeding ticket EVER!!”

Why is that?

Do you do that too?

I also noticed yesterday, life isn’t perfect even in the world of Newport Beach’s most comfortable residents.

Stop The Dock Tax

Sigh …

Is everyone else tired of politics lately too?

Briefcase and I are extremely politically incompatible.

Election years are never good for our marriage.

It’s really amazing we survive election season without throwing things at each other.

(Or maybe that’s just because my dominant arm doesn’t work?)

Completely unrelated,

I love reading boat names.

I would probably agonize for months over the “perfect” name if I ever bought a boat.

After all,

I’m still agonizing over what to “name” New PT.

I love to wander through marinas and read boat names. Some people are very imaginative.
Worse case scenario, the camera could be used as a club for self defense.

      Now, there’s a thought!
I don’t think I would have come up with that on my own.
My camera is my baby – but you’re right.

I love marinas. We had a boat while living in Santa Cruz. I took my dog and walked around the harbor very often and I still miss it.

      I love Santa Cruz.
I’ve been dying to get up there for some photos.
      Hopefully this next year …

Love the photos–but as I’ve said before, you make me miss Southern California so much! And my husband and I are also opposite ends of the political spectrum. Can’t wait for the election to be over!
