What Resolutions?

I’ve been wondering how you’re doing with your New Year’s Resolutions?

Of course, we’re only a few weeks into 2013 …

There’s plenty of time still, right?

I was looking over my resolutions yesterday,

And feeling grateful I still have 11 more months to achieve some of them.

Here’s a look at the progress (or lack thereof?) I’m making with my resolutions:

•  One of my KEY resolutions was to find someone to help with my photography.

Miss Kay is off to a great start, and I’m so happy to have her.

•  Losing “the prednisone fat” was another resolution.

Yesterday was my “3 week anniversary” of post-holiday dieting and I’ve lost 10 pounds.

That sounds very exciting – except I’m pretty sure I gained 9 of those pounds on Christmas Eve.

But hey,

It’s still good news.

•  Obviously, since I just had surgery a week ago, I’m not exercising.

In fact, it still hurts to just do the walking I have to do in my daily life.

I’m stepping gingerly right now.

I know I’ll continue to heal, and I know it will take awhile.

(Abdomens really don’t like to be sliced open and have stuff yanked out of them.)

•  One of my resolutions was to read more.

You’d think, post surgery, I would have knocked out a few good books – right?

No.

I slept.

And when I was awake, I had a post-surgery fever and couldn’t concentrate.

(I did flip through a lot of magazines though!)

I also might have fever-rambled excessively to Paul Newman about cliff climbing in Hawaii.  (I think that’s when he insisted I call Dr. Painless immediately?!)

•  I’m doing a lot of cooking … which was another resolution.

It’s kind of surprising considering I just had surgery.

But, I’ve been very focused on healthy eating and eating to heal.

I haven’t been doing “gourmet” cooking, but I’m trying to provide my body high nutrition food.

(Can you tell I’m anxious to resume my normal activities as soon as possible?)

•  I resolved to dress “nicer” at least one day each week.

FAIL!

I can’t wear “real” pants even … I’m walking around in sweats.

Or, whenever possible, no pants at all!

Maybe once I’ve healed?

(But let’s be honest, my incision site still hurts enough I can’t imagine ever wearing real pants again.)

This will get better in time??

•  I did make a couple other, more long term, resolutions.  I’ll update you on those a few months down the road.

So, how about YOU?

Do you have exciting success stories?

Or funny stories of failure?

Or did you decide you were better off not even making resolutions this year?

Congratulations on the weight loss! I’m envious, since I keep losing and regaining the same flippin’ 3 pounds. (Tracking what I eat and exercising obviously need to become more of a priority.)

    Thank you.
I haven’t done a very good job with either of those things either.
I have been consuming massive quantities of veggies though!
