Updates and Trivia

I thought I’d update you on a few things I’ve recently left hanging in blog space.

•  My post-chemical-peel face is FINE.  I’m putting lots of sunscreen on constantly.  I use sunscreen every day anyway, but it’s even *more* important with new “baby” skin on my face.  The blistered areas (blistering wasn’t expected) have healed for the most part.  My skin is still drier than normal and, as a result, flaky.  Also?  I’m suddenly getting very attractive teenage zits on my face.  I’m assuming this is part of the post-peel loveliness?  Or maybe it’s a result of coating my skin with so much extra sunscreen?  I’m also making sure to wear a hat when I’m shooting outside.

•  Would I ever do a peel again?  I would if it was for the purpose of getting rid of pre-cancerous skin problems.  Or if I had a lot of sun splotches/brown spots that were bothering me.  But, since none of these things were the case this time – I don’t think I’m in a hurry to do another peel.  If I did, I’d definitely put aside a full week for down time afterward.

•  I want my friends/readers to be the first to know, I’m expecting a price increase on my prints very soon – probably at the end of this week.  If there’s anything you’ve been considering ordering, do it now.  And no, I’m not trying to push prints on any of you.  I just wanted to let you know in case you’ve been planning a purchase.

•  My friend, Ben, was in town last Friday for a business trip.  We met in the late afternoon and spent several hours continuing to catch up on each other’s lives.  Ben likes photography and beaches – so the plan was to go shooting.  We ended up stopping for *one* drink first.  One drink became happy hour and then dinner.  There’s a lot to talk about after all these years.  It’s so nice to have a good friend come back into my life.

•  I’m very excited because the big (five feet wide), custom-ordered, metal print for Paul Newman’s waiting room/reception area is being delivered to him this week.  I hope I get a chance to see it “up” before I leave to go out of town.

•  Once upon a time, I was a Corporate Woman.  I know it’s hard to believe, but it’s true.  I pretended to be a grown-up and I acted professionally.  (Most of the time.)  Last week my ex Important Fortune 500 Company had a meeting/lunch/meeting I was invited to.  It was fun to see a few familiar faces again.  It also made me realize how very much I now belong doing exactly what I’m doing.  I love what I do, even if it has been amazingly busy/hectic lately.

•  My past has been catching up to me lately, have you noticed?  Life is very strange, indeed.

•  Miss Kay and I are headed out to the desert on Thursday.  And by desert, I mean the place that had multiple earthquakes yesterday.  We will be spending time in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, Indio and a few other random places over a several day period.  One of my other photographer friends will be joining us for a day or two also.  (I have some photography commitments out there.  One of them *might* involve Dr. Painless.)  We’ll also be working on some of the behind-the-scenes administrative STUFF I DO.  Maybe we’ll be able to do that while sitting by a pool?  Because, yes, I’m quite sure we’ll be working in some down time too.  (Down time wasn’t in the intital plan, but I’m exhausted,  It now sounds like A Very Good Idea.)

•  Dear Universe:  I really don’t need a *big* earthquake in the next week or two.  Little earthquakes I can handle, but I need some CALM in my life.

•  I haven’t been seeing as much of Paul Newman as I should lately.  (My fault – my chaotic schedule.)  I might have sent him a text yesterday saying, “My armpit misses you madly.”  I’m sure he appreciates how much I appreciate him?  I’m seeing him for a much needed visit today.  It’s too bad he doesn’t make house calls to the desert.  (I think it would be a great business opportunity if he did – at least for the next week or so.)

My mother loved hats, and would have loved yours.

As for me, I’m glad your face is getting back to normal, more or less. I was worried about all the blistering.

I love hats too. I really do.
      But …?
I always get hot when I have them on and take them off.
Or they blow off and make me mad.
I TRY to wear them when I’m in the sun though! : )
