Orange County Fair

I’ve had a busy schedule over the last week or two.

I wanted to follow-up and let you know I had fun attending the bull riding event at the OC Fair last week.

Me – just before leaving for the fair.  Yee-haw!

I love fairs –

For people-watching, and also for the many photography opportunities they present.

Cameras weren’t allowed inside the bull riding arena so I only had my iPhone with me to take photos on Thursday evening.

(Sorry, I didn’t get any great phone shots of cowboys riding the bulls.  I was sitting a little too far away from the bulls to get good shots with just a phone.)

By the way, bulls seem like very angry animals.  (!!!)

I arrived at the fair early to allow a little time for walking around before the event.

I love how the light falls toward the end of the day.

There’s something very comforting about a fair.

Nothing significant has changed at county fairs since my childhood.

Of course, I want to return with my “real” camera so I can get better quality (and many more) photos.

Phones are great for quick shots, but I’ve become spoiled.

I have my DSLR with me 95% of my waking hours.

I feel naked without it.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to make a return trip to the OC Fair (with my camera!) sometime in the next week.

I’m eager to get some good camera time there.

I’m also seriously considering getting a mirrorless or compact camera for events which won’t permit entrance with DSLR cameras.

Have you been to a fair yet this summer?

And if so, what’s your favorite part?

People watching?

Baby farm animals?

We have had an extreme amount of rain this summer so although I would love to photograph a fair, I simply decided not to attend for fear of getting a really wet camera. Crazy weather!

I’m sorry you’ve gotten so much rain.
A lot of the country seems to be having bad weather this year.
