Do You Remember North Carolina?

I have a huge backlog of photos to edit.

(HUGE … I’ll have lots to do at the old folks home in a few years!)

I haven’t even looked at many of my own photos yet.

For example,

Yesterday I was shooting in Los Angeles.

But …

My editing time recently has been of my last visit to North Carolina.

I wish I could say I edit my photos in chronological order.

Often, I just randomly pick a day/location out of  my Lightroom catalog  a straw hat and begin editing.

(Unless, of course, I’m on commission to do a particular job.)

I really enjoyed walking around the “Uptown” area of Charlotte.

I got up early one weekend morning so I could get a few shots before the light got harsh and the crowds arrived.

One day, I wandered around the “arts district” which is called NODA.

I loved NODA (which stands for North Davidson).

It’s funky, creative, fun …. lots of little shops and galleries.

I love funky.

(We don’t have much funky in sterile/modern Orange County.)

I walked the streets of Charlotte at night a lot too.

Does that sound bad?  (Like a street walker?)

It’s a beautiful city at night.

There was live music in several locations, and lots of cool/funky/hip/retro bars.

Speaking of night,

This next photo is the top of the tallest building in North Carolina.

(The Bank of America Corporate Center.)

The top of the building is intentionally designed to look like a multi-tiered tiara.

The architectural design had something to do with a tribute to Queen Charlotte who reigned in England once upon a time.

It was beautiful when lit up at night ….

It’s so fun to explore new (to me) places.

There are so many places to visit …

I wish I could travel everywhere.

Oh, you’re making me so homesick! I was raised about 30 miles from Charlotte and still miss it.

      It’s such a pretty state!
I was hoping to make it back to visit again in October, but I don’t think that’s going to happen this year.

I’ll be there next March. Alfie Boe, the English tenor, will be in concert in Charlotte and we have tickets. I love sitting on my sister’s screened porch and just doing nothing!
