September in Orange County

It is hot, hot, hot right now …

Which is, of course, very normal for September in Orange County.

What isn’t “normal” is the number of monsoons sweeping into our area.

(The storms mainly hit the Southern California deserts, but Orange County gets extra humidity and awesome clouds.)

It makes for some wonderful photography.

And yes, I’ve been out shooting as much as my arm can handle.

Here’s a look at what I’ve been seeing …..

(Photos were taken at more than one location and not all on the same day.)

You wouldn’t believe how many people I saw walk right past the above sign and onto the (very slippery) rocks.

I felt sorry for the lifeguard who had to continually come over and tell people that they weren’t exempt from the “rule.”

A lot of people in Orange County don’t think rules apply to them.

It’s an OC demographic problem.

I’ve had a lot of fun hiking around to cool view spots lately too.

(The key is to bring really cold water with me when I go.  I get super hot when I’ve got a backpack of gear on my back.  Warm water is so BLEH!)

If my right arm worked like a right arm is supposed to, I’d probably be out shooting eight hours a day.

What does that say about me?

Also, did I mention Paul Newman yanked my arm all the way to the other side of Newport Beach yesterday?

He did!

And in some weird way, it kind of hurt so good.

What does THAT say about me?

This above photo is titled Everything About You.

Mother Nature has been showing off lately.

Have I mentioned, I have a few long-term photography idols?

They’re photographers who I’m consistently in awe of.

(I’ve admired them for years and years – even when I couldn’t shoot in the first few years after the accident.)

If you’re trying to grow at your craft, it’s so wonderful to have amazing people to look up to.

I really believe my “idols” have helped me just by creating such amazing images.

There are always improvements to strive for.

Isn’t it great?

One single (monsoon) sunset sometimes includes every color in the rainbow.

It may start off with yellows and golds, change to oranges and pinks, and end in vivid reds and purples.

It’s just amazing …

And so much fun to capture!
