Castro Street Fair

Last Sunday was the 40th anniversary of the Castro Street Fair.

The Castro District (better known as The Castro) is a famous LGBT neighborhood in San Francisco.

I was invited to photograph the street fair this year.

It was the first LGBT event I’ve ever photographed, and I had so much fun!

The atmosphere was very festive.

Everyone I talked to was happy to have their photograph taken.

A lot of people dressed up for the street fair which made picture taking even more interesting.

I thought I’d share five photos with you.

They aren’t my five “best” photos from the event, but I think (taken together) they communicate the general atmosphere of the fair.

I don’t see any need to narrate these photos.

They pretty much speak for themselves.

They are all very colorful, pretty and unusual pictures. I want to make that clear. They probably captured the spirit of the fair.
