The Weekend In L.A.

I was in L.A. over the weekend.

First on the agenda, was a little business in the Beverly Hills area.

Later in the afternoon, I drove to Santa Monica and checked into The Huntley Hotel.

As soon as my bag was dropped off in my room, I went for a walk through Palisades Park.

It was nice to breathe in the ocean air.

(Because I don’t get enough of it in Orange County?)

After my walk, I returned to the hotel to get cleaned up for a night out.

By the way, I was a little sad I didn’t get the amazing room I had last time.

Still, it’s hard to complain about the room I did get.

I took this photo through the glass of my window at sunset:

OK, so it isn’t the greatest photo but it was a quick shoot-through-the-glass shot.

The colors were (obviously) very bright and vibrant.

As soon as the sun had set, I was off to Hollywood.

Dinner was at Wood and Vine which is, of course, at the famous intersection of Hollywood Blvd. and Vine.

After dinner, I took a quick and easy walk across the (star paved) street.

I had tickets (great seats!) to see The Book of Mormon at the Pantages.

I wish I could show you how beautiful the inside of the Pantages is, but photography isn’t allowed in the theatre.

The Book of Mormon (for those of you who don’t already know) is a musical filled with a ton of inappropriate, extremely crass, offensive, raunchy, humor.

So …

Of course, I enjoyed it.

It ended up being a late night.

Yesterday, I met up with some friends for brunch.

And then …?

I took my camera (with only ONE lens!) on a hike to Parker Mesa Overlook in the Pacific Palisades.

I was SO glad I didn’t have all my gear with me.

There are numerous trails that lead to the overlook, but the one I was on was a pretty steep uphill incline for the first few miles.

I would have died if I had forty or fifty pounds of gear to carry.

And to be honest, my legs and butt were so sore from my gym workout on Friday …

I had moments when I thought, “Seriously??  MORE uphill?”

But, I think hiking helps get rid of muscle soreness once you get past the initial “ouch” factor of it.

I got some beautiful shots of the mountains, canyons, and ocean view/s.

I did have one mishap with my bum arm, but I’ll be fine in a day or three.

(I’m seeing Paul Newman today.  I don’t know what I’d do without that man!)

I’ll share more about my L.A. weekend soon ….
