Fabulous Friday

We’ve had nonstop “rain coverage” on the news.

Yesterday, the first of two storms came in.

At my house, in South OC, we only got a little rain.

By 10 a.m. the rain-nonevent was pretty much over and done with.

This is a look at “my” mountains:

I was stuck at home waiting for a delivery for longer than the rain lasted.

I did a lot of work on a corporate client project to pass the time.

Finally, a large moving van showed up and two very nice gentleman brought me this:

This old, upright, Chickering piano belonged to my grandmother.

When she passed away, it was left to my mom.

My parents are in the process of downsizing to a smaller home so they shipped me the piano.

It makes me happy.

I used to have a piano, but I sold it several years ago when my kids were clearly done with their piano playing days.

Having this old, antique, piano in the house feels like a big hug from both my grandmother and mom.

Once the delivery arrived, I took a late afternoon break to get some fresh air.

It was a beautiful day.

Even though it had rained in the morning, it was 70F by afternoon.

A bigger storm is due to arrive today and last through a good part of the weekend.

Hopefully it will bring enough rain to water our hills and mountains.

(Southern California is a tinder box right now – everything is so dry.)

Even though it’s supposed to rain a LOT this weekend,

I’m pretty sure I need to go out into the rain and take just a few photos anyway.

It’s too bad we aren’t expecting lightning … I would love (!!) to take photos of an electric storm.

Love. Love. Love the piano. The other day The Babe asked me why I don’t get rid of mine because I rarely play it anymore. I said, “What?! Are you crazy? It’s my piano.” It’s like an old friend. Although, lately I have been really checking out the Yamaha Clavinova electric pianos. If I find a killer deal on one, I might get a “new” old friend. 🙂

There’s something very “homey” about having a piano in the house.
      : )
