Jacarandas In June

May and June are typically months of morning beach fog followed by sunshine-y afternoons here in Orange County.

This year, however, is much hotter than normal.

(It seems like I’ve been saying that for the last two years … global warming, anyone?)

In any case, it’s also the purple time of year.

Yes, I said purple.

The jacaranda trees are in full bloom – and they are everywhere.

They’re often planted with/near agapanthus which are also purple and bloom at the same time of year.

(Sorry, I don’t have an agapanthus photo handy to share with you.)

I love the beauty this time of year brings.

In addition to zillions of purple trees,

Purple petals line the roads and sidewalks.

Purple, purple, purple everywhere.

Purple is one of my favorite colors.

We don’t get much in the way of “fall color” here, but I think all the purple in spring almost makes up for it.

By the way, today I’ll be shooting jacaranda trees and probably a few agapanthus too.

I’m sure I’ll be sharing some of those photos with you soon.

Purple is my absolutely favorite color. I have to be careful with my wardrobe because I could just wear purple everyday. I am so drawn to it. I can’t wait to see what other photos you share.

I can’t get enough purple either.
      It’s an addiction … a purple addiction!

When I came out from Illinois during high school Spring Break to tour college campuses, I was mesmerized by the purple trees.

Yesterday I walked along a path that had jacaranda flowers mixed in with some yellow flowers from another tree and it was so dreamy.
