I confess to be on a never-ending hunt for the “perfect” camera bag.

Of course, there is no such thing.

Different situations require completely different gear (and therefore completely different ways to transport that gear).

Transporting gear is a lot more challenging for me due to my bum arm.

I’ve been searching for a “smallish” bag for awhile.

I have several big bags.

There are many times when I’m shooting locally and I don’t need to take a lot with me.

A few months ago, I was invited to test drive one of ThinkTank’s Sling-O-Matic camera bags.

The idea of having a bag I could use on “just” my good shoulder attracted me.

(The Sling-O-Matic can be worn on either shoulder and alternated between the two.)

I also like the idea of being able to swing the pack forward to use it, without needing to take it off.

I decided to try out the smallest bag in the series, the Sling-O-Matic 10.

The Sling-O-Matic 10 isn’t made to carry much gear.

To be honest, that’s what I like about it.

If I have a big bag, I usually bring a lot more with me than I really need.

A smaller bag forces me to “go light.”

When the bag first arrived, I thought it looked sort of like a small ice cooler.

It’s very boxy.

It isn’t ugly, but it certainly didn’t wow me with its looks.

But then, I discovered how much this “little” bag can hold.

It’s the smartest little bag I’ve come across.

I’ve kind of fallen in love with it.

The pockets and compartments are all in the “right” places, making it easy to use from day one.

I’m amazed at how much I can actually get into it.

(I can even attach my tripod to it.)

I really like being able to work directly out of the bag without needing to take it off.

In the last couple months, I find myself using the Sling-O-Matic 10 exclusively for my “around town” photography.

If you’re looking for a small bag, this one’s pretty awesome.

I only have one to give away!

To be entered to win, just leave a comment below.

P.S.  Entries are still open on this week’s other giveaways.  (Photography/travel vest and Adobe’s Lightroom 4 and a Metal Print of your choice from my galleries.)

LOL I have needed a new upgrade my camera bag for so long to use when I dont have to carry so much equipment .I LOVE THIS 🙂

  2. Donna in VA

Nice bag! My son (he’s the REAL photographer, not like his WANNABE photographer mom) just got a new camera backpack and I was so envious. This one can go either way. I like it.

  3. LK

That looks like a really nice bag. I would just need to control myself and not take every single lens with me but that is a hard habit to break. I am new to photography so I always want to bring EVERYTHING with me “just in case”. Maybe I’ll need to wear two of these bags, one on each shoulder!

  4. WebSavvyMom

    –>That bag looks awesome.

However, can they find a better model for it? He doesn’t look that amused in the first shot with the bag. ha!

  5. Joe Vallee

Suzanne, congrats on the new site! I enjoyed the feel of it and look forward to catching your future photos and info here on your blog.

We need to try and get together for a little shooting when you get a chance down here in Laguna or along the coast.

~I’ll toss my name into the ring here for your Give-aways~

    Have a great day!!

  6. Deanna Kjorlien

I want one! I need a new bag. Who doesn’t need new stuff though? Right?

  7. Ed

I would love to win this bag. But then I’ll need to win a bunch of cool equipment to put in the bag!

  8. Elaine Bennett

I’d love it! I know what you mean about searching for the “perfect” bag. It’s the Holy Grail!

  9. Kristin

I don’t have a camera bag. My camera would really like one.

  10. Zach

Would love to win this bag. I have a Retro 20 and it’s overflowing! Time to get a second bag to back it up!

  11. Feroz Khan

Certainly very boxy with a slight retro feel to it. Reminds me of a similar camera bag my granddad has
    Very functional indeed

  12. Ashvary Jain

Indeed boxy in appearance.. but thats unique thing about Thinktank, they own a different and unique design… Looks like i should get it so this could be my first photo bag

  13. Chantel

My current camera bag is fraying on the edges and bottom. It has seen a lot of time on the Football field. This would be a great upgrade! 🙂

  14. yvonne nc

Now this bag I could handle “carrying” . My husband usually has to handle my camera bag. Wait what am I thinking? This bag would look wonderful on him.

  15. Steven Clark

I’m a cheapskate… no bag worth carrying. So I pretty much end up leaving the house with a single prime lens on a single camera (sometimes a second camera around my neck causing grief). I would appreciate such a gift if luck would have it be so.

  16. David Perez

Draws attention these straight lines, do not know if it will be comfortable? Any thoughts but if you prctica and easily accessible.

  17. Penelope

Thanks for the great giveaway, it looks like a reliable bag, and I currently have everything flopping around my diaper bag, so I could use a good camera bag.

  18. Keara B.

I just started working part-time as a photographer and I’m in need of a better camera bag! This one looks sturdy and easy to use, I’d love to try it!! Thanks for reviewing it.
