The Happiest Start to 2009!

Happy New Year!

I hope you had a fun, safe, New Year's celebration.

I am so glad to begin 2009.  Primarily because 2007 and 2008 sucked.

Just for the hell of it, here's another look at the Laguna sunset for you from Tuesday evening.

Can you believe those colors?  It was spectacular!

Well, I have wonderful, wonderful news.  What better way to start a new year, than with great news?

I went for my biopsy on Wednesday.  AND, I'm perfectly fine!  Everything came back free and clear of ALL bad stuff.  Thank God!

The biopsy itself was uncomfortable, but not too bad.  I've been through so much medical stuff, the pain from the biopsy was mild in comparison.  The female doctor was fantastic.  Her assistant was also female.

The assistant has worked at the breast center for 10 years.  She's 43 and recently found a lump in her own breast.  She had a double mastectomy and is still bald from going through chemo.  She held my bum arm for me so tenderly during the procedure.  The fact she could show me so much compassion when she has gone through so much herself touched me to no end.

Apparently I had a cluster of three little lumps.  They didn't look like cysts on the mammogram or ultrasound.  During the biopsy, however, they realized all three WERE cysts.  They drained them, gave me an all clear and that was it.  Well, other than a sore boob afterwards.  I stayed home and rested (on pain meds) for New Year's Eve.  Even though I was confident of the results, the sense of relief is an awesome start to 2009!

Now, that’s a way to start a new year!
For my biopsy they put me out and when I woke up I had an inch and a half cut on my boob that hurt for months. Mostly because it was sensitive to cold and the factory I work in the temp is usually in the low 40s.
I’m glad they realized how tender your arm is.
I had a boyfriend that was in a motorcycle accident and his shoulder was completely broken and shoved way down. Well, when he went in for an ex-ray a few weeks later the ex-ray tech in trying to get him in the right position grabbed him by his shoulder and pulled and broke it again! Sometimes I don’t think they are actually thinking about what they are doing.
Now we can all breath easier and have fun reading about what you are doing in PT.

Oh, HOORAY FOR YOU!!! You couldn’t have given us all a better New Year’s gift! When I read this I screamed, and scared Beloved to death; when he asked me what was wrong, I said, “Nothing!! Suzanne’s biopsy came back normal!”
He said, “Tell 24@Heart we’re glad for her.”
You’re on a first name basis with everyone at the Sushi Bar. Ha!
Oh, and aren’t you glad there’s *something* normal about you? :P

I expected nothing less but I’m glad you got the results so there is no question. My biopsy was done right there that same day (they were so worried) and I was awake and alone but it wasn’t bad. Just a little soreness but nothing that required meds. Now the surgery to remove said lumps…..was a different story. Maybe I’ll post about it. :)

And how very nice that you had a really positive encounter with the medical profession. After all you’ve been through, that seems only fair.

I am so happy for you! And that is so awesome that they had results for you immediately! I seem to remember having to wait 3 or 4 days , wherein I continued to freak. Also awesome that you had such caring healthcare folk. 2009 will be better than last year! (your words, not mine, ;)

I honestly let out a sigh of relief for you. I can just imagine how you felt.
I remember how I felt. Mine wasn’t my boob though. It was my neck. I have a lovely gaping chunk missing from one side of my turkey neck (doc wouldn’t just take the rest of my turkey neck while he was in there – bastard) because I had this bizarre tumor growing making my neck resemble the Elephant Man. Doc said he was “certain” it was cancer, but it turned out to be some nasty rockhard tumor. The relief was crazy wild.
I’m truly happy that you had good news. I hope the rest of your year is filled with nothing but good news.
