If you're not in the blogging world, you may not know Ree Drummond (better known as The Pioneer Woman).
Oh wait, maybe you do know her. She's been on TV, she's written a bestselling cookbook and she entertains millions with her stories of life on a cattle ranch in Oklahoma. She is the ultimate blogger success story.
She's also very pretty, don't you agree?
Last Sunday Ree was in Southern California doing a book signing for her cookbook. My friend, Sandi, suggested we make the event into a girls afternoon/evening/night and attend.
Every time I see Sandi it turns into an adventure so I jumped at the chance.
Sandi drove us up to L.A. I'm letting you in on this important fact because, as you may recall, I've been having a tough go with my arm and my pain levels lately. I needed pain meds on Sunday. Because I took pain meds, I couldn't drive. Being drugged up also meant I was (apparently) very entertaining as I happily chatted away. I changed thoughts midstream rather abruptly several times during our conversation which caused Sandi to burst into giggles.
I'm sure she was laughing WITH me and not AT me, right?
This is a very unflattering picture, but at least you get to see Sandi and I hanging out while waiting for our turn to get our books signed. You also get to see how horrible I look when I'm under the influence.
Your welcome.
By the way, Sandi is very perceptive. As soon as the drugs began wearing off she saw the pain in my eyes. Before I could protest she was carrying my cookbook for me.
Yes, my arm is that weak.
There were a few hundred people at the signing, but we (fortunately) were in the first hundred to get books signed. We didn't mind the wait because Sandi and I never, ever, run out of things to talk about.
When it was my turn to meet Ree, I found her to be nothing less than charming. One of the Borders employees took my picture with her. Unfortunately, he put my camera on video instead of taking a still photo. I managed to salvage a little bit of proof I actually met her.
After the signing, Sandi and I decided we needed just a little more time together. We hadn't come close to running out of things to talk about yet. We headed south towards Orange County and eventually made a stop for dinner. We needed more girl time.
I was in charge of navigating as Sandi drove us home. That might not have been such a good idea since I have absolutely no sense of direction under the best of circumstances. Adding pain meds into the mix made for ... um, a little confusion. It was okay though, we really enjoyed touring the back streets and parking lots in Torrance.
Oops!
Oh well, eventually we Sandi found our way home.

How in the heck did I miss that Ree Drummond was in LA? What the heck? I'm so bummed!
Cool that you got to go though! I owe you an email by the way. It's coming. I've been sick and icky. :)

I'm glad you told this story. I was just about to ask you to be my navigator but I'm having second thoughts.

Oh, I'm glad you have a friend to help you AND take you out when you have to be "under the influence." I love when there's that type of friend where you Never run out of stuff to talk about.
Sorry the arm is being such a bitch.

-->It's nice to keep hearing that Ree is very sweet in person too especially after meeting hundreds and hundreds of people on this book tour. I wish she would come to Virginia Beach.
Your friend Sandy is super cute too. I'm sure you were entertaining under the influence. (I hope your arm is feeling better.)

I love you girl. Even when you are under the influence. There wasn't a dull moment that's for sure. Let's do it again soon.

As amusing as you are stone cold sober, I can't imagine that you could be any MORE amusing, but let's suffice it to say I'm supremely jealous of your friend Sandi.
Unflattering? Puh-LEEZE. You are gorgeous. End of story.
And I want your shirt. Pretty!

The picture of you and Ree is beautiful. And you look lovely in the other shot, if a little...unfocused.

You, too? Apparently I am the only blogger in the country who did not meet Ree. Hmmmmph.
I must confess, though, I stopped reading Pioneer Woman a long time ago because she didn't have time for me. Unlike you. You had time for me. You still have time for me. :)
