About Me

Welcome to Twenty Four At Heart!

My name is Suzanne and I began Twenty Four At Heart in April of 2008 without a clue about what I was doing.  For that matter, I didn't have a clue about the blogging world in general.  In hindsight, that was probably for the best.

I am a forty-something woman living in Orange County, California.  I live right next door to a very affluent community which I refer to in my writing as "Money Town".  Money Town is the same community that the TV show The Real Housewives of Orange County originated from.  Money Town provides a lot of humorous writing material for me.  I am a 5th generation California native.  The beach and the lifestyle of Southern California is in my blood.  I enjoy sharing and making fun of the OC lifestyle with my readers.

I am shy in group settings, but not at all once you get to know me.  I say what's on my mind and people know where they stand with me.  The one thing I never am is fake.  I love deeply, cherish my friends for life (whether they want me to or not), and will not hesitate to let those I care about know when they piss me off.  I write about any and everything that sparks my interest.  It seems like there is never a shortage of writing topics with my crazy life!

I am married to Briefcase.  He is a business executive and travels frequently.  I have three kids.  I occasionally mention them (or the unique challenges that come with teens), but this is far from a mommy blog.  My daughter, TR, is 19 and away at college.  My son, RC, is 18 and a senior in high school.  My youngest son, PR, is 14 and in 8th grade.

Nearly three years ago I was in a serious car accident and lost the use of my right arm.  I am right handed ... so, bummer!  The accident occurred when Asshole ran a stop sign and t-boned my car on the driver's side, spinning the car a full 360 degrees on impact.  I have gone through 5 surgeries and basically pure hell since then.  Things seem to finally be improving somewhat . . . meaning I am no longer sobbing in pain every single day.  I often refer to "PT" in my blog because I still go to rehab (physical therapy) several hours each week.  I also occasionally mention The Torturer who is my physical therapist.  If you want to know more about my accident or resulting disability you can click here.

I am currently not employed.  My job is my rehab for the time being.  In a former life I was a manager at a Fortune 500 company.  I have also worked in advertising and public relations.

I love to hear from my readers.  Feel free to leave comments.  If you need to reach me regarding a topic other than a particular post you may contact me at: TwentyFourAtHeart@yahoo.com

I've really enjoyed your blog. I noticed it in the blogroll of Midlife Slices and stopped by. I would think your torturer worked at my gym if we weren't on different coast. Do you think he's bi-coastal?

Hey Suzanne. came from Donna's blog and visited.. Love it.. will return.. talked to a guy last night on messenger from the O.C.
he may be living right down the street you never know! Take care.. : )

We have a friend who actually lost his arm in a freak woodcutting accident, right up at the shoulder. He was right-handed, too, and had to learn how to do everything left-handed. It's amazing at how adept he is at even tying shoes! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving a comment...it's always so nice to hear from a new reader. And isn't blogging the best?! My daughter got me started a few years ago and I'd be lost without it.

I am adding you to my blogroll. I am hooked and I would guess we are pretty close neighbors. I am in Ladera Ranch.

Found you on the OC Register. I'm 4th generation OC!
